Abstract / Content summary	This Corporate Report is documenting an external assessment of NARI’s work over the past 28 years and responses from stakeholders and partners on their views of NARI’s contribution to the sector development. It forms an important part of the NARI Act review process. We have been fortunate to be able to engage Dr Adiel Mbabu and his team for conducting this assessment. Dr Mbabu is an internationally recognised expert with extensive experience in international public policy, leadership and management and the building of institutional capacity in agricultural research for development and a good understanding and knowledge of the PNG Agricultural sector. The results highlight that NARI needs to do better as a national institution in reaching stakeholders in all corners of the country not only with technological but also institutional and policy innovations. NARI’s Strategy and Results Framework 2022-2033 already captures this need. We must now ensure that the need for this expanded role is also reflected in the NARI Act so that necessary resourcing needs are legislated and can be realised.
